Manufactured Homes

According to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), under Title 44 Code of Federal Regulations Sections 59.1, 60.3(c6) and 60.3(c12), manufactured homes are typically used as residential buildings and are therefore subject to the same flood protection building requirements as conventional wood frame (‘stick built’) housing.  For example, elevating the building, using flood resistant building materials, and anchoring the building to prevent movement from floodwaters are required as part of a Floodplain Development Permit.  Older mobile homes that pre-date HUD manufactured home standards must meet the same flood protection building requirements.

The term ‘manufactured home’ does not include a ‘recreation vehicle’. RVs have their own special flood protection requirements.
